Newport Nursery School is situated in an urban area of Newport, South Wales. The building was opened as a Nursery School in 1968 in a building originally built in 1889 as a school. This nursery, amalgamated with Rockfield Nursery School in April 1994. The current Nursery School building was modernised and renovated in 2002 and once again became a separate nursery in September 2008 as Rockfield became part of the new Glan Usk Primary School. In September 2021 Fairoak Nursery School amalgamated with Kimberley Nursery School and opened as Newport Nursery School. Throughout the year, there can be up to 144 children on roll in the nursery. There is also a Communication Class catering for up to 16 children with a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
The caring and happy ethos of the school generates a very positive attitude from staff, governors, parents and children alike to both education and the social life of the families it serves. The school sets very high levels in expectation of achievement and this is reflected in the standards attained by children at all levels of ability.
The Staff benefit from being part of a successful, supportive and welcoming team. All staff act as positive role models for children with regard to professional conduct, relationships, appropriate dress and use of language. We have expectations for high attainment and achievement and all who join us will share our aims for our children.

Actively Engaged to Explore, Discover and Grow
The aims of our school are
Engage Explore Enrich
We aim to engage children in learning and want to engage parents to be involved in their child’s Nursery journey. We want to explore learning opportunities with the nursery children but also explore what works best for them and their families. Through our knowledge of child development we aim to enrich the learning environment to allow the children to develop both academically and socially in a safe, nurturing environment.
Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all stakeholders to share this commitment.
